What I fix and upgrade

Slow computer tune-ups

I clear out unnecessary files, stop unneeded programs starting up and get it running like it used to.

Virus and malware removal

Viruses, spyware, adware and suspicious pop-ups, found and removed, then I make sure they stay out.

Accidental damage

Cracked screens, spilt drinks and other knocks. I'll tell you honestly if it's worth fixing.

Upgrades

A faster drive, more memory or a new graphics card can make an old machine feel brand new, for a lot less than replacing it.

Fresh start

A clean reinstall when a computer's beyond tidying, with your files backed up first and put back after.

New kit, chosen and set up

Help choosing a new computer, phone or tablet, then set up and with everything moved across from the old one.

  1. Free diagnosis. I find out what's actually wrong, and tell you in plain English.
  2. A clear price. Labour at my normal rate, plus any parts, agreed before I start.
  3. Fixed and explained. I sort it, show you what I did and how to avoid it next time.

Charged per 30 minutes (£22.50 a go), so a quick job costs a quick price. No hidden extras.

How this works

No fix, no fee: if I can't sort it, you don't pay a penny. Card, cash or bank transfer on the day. Invoices for businesses.

Frequently asked questions

How much will the repair cost?

Finding out what's wrong is free. I'll then tell you the cost, including any parts, before I start, and you decide whether to go ahead.

Is it worth fixing, or should I buy a new one?

I'll give you a straight answer. If a repair costs more than the machine is worth, I'll say so, and I can help you choose a replacement with no commission.

Will I lose my files?

I always back up what I can before doing anything major, and put everything back afterwards.

Do you fix Macs as well as Windows?

Yes, and phones and tablets too. If something needs a specialist part or workshop, I'll tell you up front.
